There is difference between sadaqah and Zakat. zakat is obligatory, sadaqah is not obligatory usually refers to voluntary helps or donations.

Allah says in Quran: “And whoever volunteers good then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.”- [2:158]
“Those who spend their wealth [in Allah ‘s way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly – they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” – [Quran, 2:274]
“Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allah a goodly loan – it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.”- [57:18]
Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Said: “Sadaqah wipes out sins like water extinguishes fire.” – [Tirmidhi]
“Give charity (sadaqah) without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” – [At-Tirmidhi]
“Don’t feel ashamed when giving little for charity; that is because there is always goodness in giving no matter how little.” — Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA)
“Give Sadaqah and get blessings of Allah.”

Narrated Abu Huraira (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu): Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon him) said : “Every day two Angels come down from Heaven; one of them says, ‘O Allah! Compensate every person, who spends in Your Cause,’ and the other (Angel) says, ‘O Allah! Destroy every miser.’ “- [Sahih al-Bukhari]

Your charity will not be accepted until you believe, “I need the reward more than the beggar needs the money.” – Uthman Ibn Affan (May Allah be pleased with him)
