What is Takwa?
Taqwa (taqwā / taqwá “) is an Islamic term for being conscious & cognizant of Allah, of truth, of the rational reality, “piety, fear of God”.

It is often found in the Quran. Alllah says in Quran:

Allah says in Quran  – “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”

” – [ Quran, 49, 13]

Some Takwa quotes are as follows:

“Love for world brings darkness in life and taqwa brings light.”

“Your taqwa of of this dunya will bring light when you will see darkness hereafter and taqwa will show right path to you.”

“The most honorable person in the sight of Allah is that person who has most Taqwa.”

Ibn Taymiyāh [ra] said:
Ikhlaas cannot be achieved except after having Zuhud, and there is no Zuhud except after having Taqwa, and Taqwa is following the commands (of Allaah and His Messenger) and keeping away from prohibitions.
[‘al-Fatawa’, (1/94) | Abbas Abu Yahya]

“Good manners is part of taqwa and you cannot have taqwa without good manners.”
-Ibn Rajab

Taqwa has three components:

  1. Fear of Allah (swt)
  2. Do what He commands
  3. Avoid what He forbids
Taqwa can never be fear alone (khawf). Taqwa can never be obedience alone . Taqwa is the combination of all three.

“Taqwa is when you speak a lie and your instinct feels bad.”

“Taqwa is the guilt that follows when you hurt someone knowingly or unknowingly.”

“Taqwa is the shame and regret that follows a sin you did knowing fully well about it’s stand in the sight of Allah.”

“Taqwa is when you cannot sleep the whole night after disobeying or disrespecting your parents.”

“Taqwa is to cry in the depths of night fearing none but the one above the Arsh.”

“Taqwa is the fear that refrains us from sinning even when we are alone and nobody is looking.”

“Taqwa is the guts and the will to please Allah, even when the whole world is hell bent on displeasing Him.”

“Taqwa is to wear that beard and Hijab for the sole reason of pleasing Our Rabb and to keep it as per sunnah.”
